![]() 9th Armored lost 72 of its tanks and stopped short of ridge but it hold its position and rest of 1st Armored Division managed to reach it before noon. But in the morning British tanks faced with heavy anti tank gun fire from Aquaqir ridge especially from 88 mm guns. 9th Armored continued its attack, crushed and destroyed 37 Axis artillery and anti tank gun positions then cut Rahman Track. In the dawn silhouttes of British tanks were visible in Rahman Track and Aquaqir ridge. Unfortunetely they have been late while getting through minefields in the dark and passing the groups of prisoners captured in infantry attack. ![]() By the morning of November 2nd 9th Armored Brigade started its advance through the gap. More than 2000 Germans and Italians were captured and a 3 mile long breach was made in Axis lines. From that gap 1st Armored Division spearheaded by 9th Armored Brigade would get through, cut Rahman Track which was the main Axis communication line from north to south and capture vital Tel-el Aquaqir ridge, breaking out from whole Axis defence line. ![]() As first part of Supercharge after a heavy artillery fire and air bombing 50th Infantry Div would punch a hole on Axis defence lines with a night attack.
